Plesiosaur Amigurumi Pattern!!




Difficulty: Easy
Materials: One color of 4 ply yarn
Crochet Hook: 3.0mm
Extras: Stitch marker, Poly-fil, yarn needle, one 9mm pair of safety eyes
Abbreviations used in this pattern:
ch chain
sc single crochet
st stitch
sts stitches
dec decrease a stitch (*insert hook into next st, yarn over, draw up a loop* twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.)
*repeat directions inside * as many times as indicated
This pattern is worked in rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark the start of each round.


Tail and body
You will crochet the body of the dinosaur from the tip of the tail to the chest.
With body color create a slip ring. Sc in ring to join. Sc 4 additional times in ring. (4)
Rs1-3 sc in each sc (4)
R4 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (6)
Rs5-6 sc in each sc (6)
R7 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (9)
Rs8-9 sc in each sc (9)
R10 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (13)
Rs11-12 sc in each sc around (13)
R13 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (19)
R14 sc in each sc (19)
R15 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (29)
Rs16-25 sc in each sc (29)
Start to stuff the tail and body.
R26 * 1 dec, 1 sc in next sc* around (19)
R27 sc in each sc (19)
R28 * 1 dec, 1 sc in next sc* around (13)
Continue to dec as in round 28 until the hole is closed, stuff as you go. Leave a length of yarn to secure hole closed and weave in end.




Neck
This portion is worked starting at the top of the neck, working toward the base of the neck.
With body color create a slip ring. Sc in ring to join. Sc 6 additional times in ring. (6)
R1 2 sc in each sc around (12)
Rs 2-10 sc in each sc around (12)
R11 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (18)
R12 sc in each sc (18)
R13 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 2 sts* around (24)
R14 sc in each sc (24)
Leave a length of yarn for sewing and finishing. Stuff the neck and sew the open end of the neck to the body.


 Head
With body color create a slip ring. Sc in ring to join. Sc 6 additional times in ring. (6)
R1 2 sc in each sc around (12)
Rs 2-6 sc in each sc around (12)
Place safety eyes and stuff. Sew the head to neck


Front Flippers (make 2)
With body color create a slip ring. Sc in ring to join. Sc 4 additional times in ring. (4)
R1 sc in each sc (4)
R2 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (6)
R3 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (9)
R4 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (13)
Rs5-8 sc in each round (13)
Do not stuff the flippers. Sew them to body in desired position.


Back Flippers (make 2)
With body color create a slip ring. Sc in ring to join. Sc 4 additional times in ring. (4)
R1 sc in each sc (4)
R2 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (6)
R3 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (9)
R4 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (13)
Rs5-6 sc in each round (13)
Do not stuff the flippers. Sew them to body in desired position.
