Clam Amigurumi




Materials:
*3 skeins of 4ply yarn, one for outer shell, one for inner shell and one for the body color.

Crochet Hook:
3.5mm

Extras:
*Stitch marker
*Poly-fill
*Yarn needle
*9mm safety eyes

Abbreviations used in this pattern:
ch chain
sc single crochet
st stich
sts stitchs
dec decrease a stitch (*insert hook into next st, yarn over, draw up a loop* twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.)
*repeat directions inside * as many times as indicated

Clam
With shell color yarn create a slip ring. Sc to secure circle, then 6 sc in ring. (6)
Round 1 2sc in each sc. (12)
Round 2 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (18)
Round 3 *2sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 2 sts* around (24)
Round 4 *2sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 3 sts* around (30)
Rounds 5-6 sc in each sc around (30)
Round 7 *1 dec, 1 sc in next 3 sts* around (24)
Round 8 *1 dec, 1 sc in next 2 sts* around (18)
Place eyes on clam and secure the safety backs to the eyes.
Round 9 *1 dec, 1 sc in next sc* around (12)
Stuff the clam to desired firmness
Round 10 *1 dec, 1 sc in next sc* around (8)
Leave a long length of yarn and weave through the stitches of the last round. Pull tight to close up hole and weave in ends to finish off.

Outer Shell (make two)
With outer shell color yarn create a slip ring. Sc to secure circle, then 6 sc in ring. (6)
Round 1 2sc in each sc. (12)
Round 2 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (18)
Round 3 *2sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 2 sts* around (24)
Round 4 *2sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 3 sts* around (30)
Round 5 *2sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 4 sts* around (36)
Round 6 *2sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 5 sts* around (42)
Leave a long length of yarn to sew the inner shell onto the outer shell.

Inner Shell (make two)
With inner shell color yarn create a slip ring. Sc to secure circle, then 6 sc in ring. (6)
Round 1 2sc in each sc. (12)
Round 2 *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (18)
Round 3 *2sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 2 sts* around (24)
Round 4 *2sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 3 sts* around (30)
Round 5 *2sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 4 sts* around (36)
Weave in all loose ends.

Assemble the Clam:
Sew the inner shell pieces to the outer shell pieces. Then sandwich the two shells together so the inner shells are touching. Whipstitch through 6 stitches to make the hinge of the clam shell. Weave in all loose ends.

You might want to edit under clam where it says "with shell colored yarn", because I just got to like row 7 without realizing that it was incorrect -______-
